4th lesson with Ayaka!
Today Ayaka learned how to create a black-and-white value study – an important step in understanding light, shadow, and depth in drawing. After that, we still had time to move on to a color version based on her black-and-white study.
Ayaka followed the transition from value to color very well, and it helped her understand how colors also carry light and shadow. Great progress! -
3rd lesson!
Ayaka painted gradient colors – an essential skill for building smooth transitions in painting.
She chose the flower reference and picked the colors by herself. Ayaka was observant to how the colors shift from light to dark. Wonderful!
If possible, I’d love to encourage her to keep exploring more color variations. -

2nd lesson with Ayaka!
Ayaka painted the color wheel – one of the fundamental lesson in art – using crayons and gouache.
She learned how to mix certain colors to make other colors.
She was very focused in completing her work. Great job!
After that, Ayaka drew a Christmas painting. She chose the references and drew along very well. If possible, I’d encouraged her to make small creative changes – like using different colors than the sample pictures. -

1st lesson:
Ayaka explored painting multiple objects and mixing gouache colors.
She learned how to add shadows and practiced the basic wet-on-wet technique.
She can draw curves and circles quite well.
I encouraged her to choose her favorite color for the background — a good choice!
Sketching many objects can be challenging, so we will continue to build up sketching skills gradually. -
