9th lesson!
Today’s lesson explored Post-Impressionism and the works of Van Gogh. After learning about the movement and Van Gogh’s painting style, the class created their own artworks using brushstrokes inspired by the artist.
Jay chose to paint a sky inspired by Van Gogh’s famous Starry Night. Her work is vibrant and full of color, and she mixed colors very patiently too. Unfortunately, she did not have enough time to complete the piece in class. I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished version of her painting!

8th lesson!
Today’s lesson was about Impressionism and the works of Monet. After learning about the movement and Monet’s painting style, the class colored a pre-drawn haystack using brushstrokes inspired by Monet.
Jay finished her piece the fastest and met the goal of the exercise very well. She was very confident in choosing colors and the colors she selected worked very well in terms of value. I love her spirit!

7th lesson!
Initially, we planned to draw a still life, but later changed to a free drawing session for Jay.
She was given the goal of filling the entire sheet of paper. We really loved what she chose to draw as well as the techniques she used. Jay even invited me to draw a drink I liked, and she also included some stuffs that her mother enjoys. So thoughtful!
My favorite part was her decision to draw a self-portrait at the end, making it clear that she was the artist behind the artwork. -

6th lesson!
Jay drew from reference images today!
She at first chose to draw flowers, but later decided to switch to a sheep. Although the time was quite limited, she was still able to complete a lovely one.
Her choice of a semi-circular shape for the sky worked very well, and when she decided to cut the artwork following the drawn shape, the piece immediately became more striking. A very creative and bold decision of her!
