We then moved on to making a color map with a more complex subject. Although it was quite challenging, the issue seemed to become clear: she needed to pay less attention to details and focus on picking colors more freely.

I am satisfied with today’s results. The color sets she chose show their own cohesion and richness. We will need a new set of models to give her more challenges.

There were more variations this time, but the choices still seemed somewhat limited. We need to find a better approach to help her.

In today’s session, she practiced creating color maps using basic objects. She was a bit too cautious and therefore didn’t produce many variations; she needs to be more relaxed when choosing colors.

The first basic exercise in color: a color wheel created from the three primary RYB colors and their tints. She learned not only about color relationships, but also about the properties of the gouache medium.
