6th lesson
Today’s lesson explored Fauvism and the expressive use of color of Henri Matisse. The class began with a small exercise, creating a color chart where each color represented a different emotion. Then we used this palette as inspiration for the main painting in Matisse’s style.
Quyen did very well in the first exercise. In the main painting, she finished her work quickly. However, she still tended to choose colors based on what she naturally sees rather than selecting them with a specific intention, which was the main focus of the lesson. This can be a great lesson for her to revisit in the future.

5th lesson!
Today’s lesson explored Post-Impressionism and the works of Van Gogh. After learning about the movement and Van Gogh’s painting style, the class created their own artworks using brushstrokes inspired by the artist.
Quyen chose to draw a sky with colorful clouds. Although the brushstrokes doesn’t resemble Van Gogh’s style yet, her painting is truly interesting and vibrant. It feels like sunlight shining through the clouds!

She also added small drawings of the moon and sun inspired by Van Gogh’s paintings, and even completed an additional color wheel exercise. A very productive class!
