Meet Sayang — our student from Indonesia
Sayang came to Vietnam to study both art and Angklung, a traditional Indonesian musical instrument.
From her very first day at Art Tutor Hanoi, she has shown incredible patience and dedication — learning drawing step by step, from the most basic exercises.
She has a special love for black and white, so most of her works are done in charcoal. Through countless portrait and still-life studies, she has built a solid foundation and developed a calm, expressive style that truly reflects her personality.
After more than a year of consistent practice, it feels like she’s now ready to begin creating her own charcoal compositions — a new chapter in her artistic journey.
✨ We’re proud of you, Sayang!

Sayang continues practicing portrait sculpture drawing — this time with *Mr. Vinh-Victor* (as she named the statue).
The man indeed looks like an official from the Nguyễn dynasty, with a tall hat on his head.
Her basic proportions were drawn very well and quickly.
We’ll continue working with Mr. Vinh in the next session.

Completed the still life drawing with excellent shading and well-rendered fabric texture in the background. The lines and light–dark contrasts are strong and confident.
Congratulations, Sayang!

Completed the skull drawing. This is a fundamental exercise to understand facial structure, especially the anatomy of the skull.
