Meet Sayang — our student from Indonesia
Sayang came to Vietnam to study both art and Angklung, a traditional Indonesian musical instrument.
From her very first day at Art Tutor Hanoi, she has shown incredible patience and dedication — learning drawing step by step, from the most basic exercises.
She has a special love for black and white, so most of her works are done in charcoal. Through countless portrait and still-life studies, she has built a solid foundation and developed a calm, expressive style that truly reflects her personality.
After more than a year of consistent practice, it feels like she’s now ready to begin creating her own charcoal compositions — a new chapter in her artistic journey.
✨ We’re proud of you, Sayang!

She completed the muscle–skeletal sculpture in just two sessions. Although she hasn’t gone very deep into detail yet, this exercise helped Sayang gain a clearer understanding of the muscular and skeletal structure of the human body.

Starting with the skeletal and muscular structure of the human body. In the first session, the figure was constructed using a 9-head body proportion.

She has developed her hands and feet quite well. Although she hasn’t gone into detailed rendering yet, the basic forms and planes are expressed very solidly by Sayang. Congratulations.

Sayang is studying the structure of the legs and arms to gradually improve her figure-drawing skills. She draws very quickly and accurately. We may need to add more human body sculptures so that students can have more opportunities to practice.

Sayang started drawing the foot sculpture.
The proportions are very accurate, and the charcoal texture is beautiful. Congratulations!
In the next session, we will continue practicing with the hand sculpture
