Meet Sayang — our student from Indonesia
Sayang came to Vietnam to study both art and Angklung, a traditional Indonesian musical instrument.
From her very first day at Art Tutor Hanoi, she has shown incredible patience and dedication — learning drawing step by step, from the most basic exercises.
She has a special love for black and white, so most of her works are done in charcoal. Through countless portrait and still-life studies, she has built a solid foundation and developed a calm, expressive style that truly reflects her personality.
After more than a year of consistent practice, it feels like she’s now ready to begin creating her own charcoal compositions — a new chapter in her artistic journey.

Done with darker areas, next time we’ll move to lighter areas. Should pay more attention to describing textures

She starts to draw block-ins (connecting outlines of bigger shapes) and is getting braver in drawing longer lines / making mistakes.
