Large figurative oils need specific free critique: figure–ground separation, gesture, and how the background supports atmosphere. This Tiraspol piece is a clear example.

Teacher critique
From Ho Huu An: Hello, I think you have good skills in form and color — the painting also conveys clear emotion and meaning. I have a few small personal suggestions that I hope might help you improve the piece further:
1. Perhaps you wanted to keep the floating feeling of the girl, like the clouds? If so, you might try separating her more clearly from the clouds behind by slightly adjusting the values, increasing contrast, or even changing the brushstrokes.
2. On the figure of the girl, try varying the value and hue a bit — avoid treating the entire figure the same way. As for the pose, the lower half looks good, but the two parallel arms in the upper half make the gesture feel a bit stiff.
3. Unless it's intentional, the small sun behind her draws quite a bit of attention. (Not a major issue, though.)
4. Finally, for some added atmosphere, you could try handling the background differently — for example, soften or blur the lower area a little, to distinguish it from the treatment of the girl and the clouds.
Good luck with this project!
