Today’s lesson explored Fauvism and the expressive use of color of Henri Matisse. The class began with a small exercise, creating a color chart where each color represented a different emotion. Then we used this palette as inspiration for the main painting in Matisse’s style.
Like previous lessons, Sansa understood the concepts well and was very helpful to both the teacher and her classmates. In her main piece, she managed to finish drawing a cat but did not have time to add the colors yet. I’m looking forward to seeing her completed artwork!

Today’s lesson explored Post-Impressionism and the works of Van Gogh. After learning about the movement and Van Gogh’s painting style, the class created their own artworks using brushstrokes inspired by the artist.
Sansa chose to draw her handbag. The final piece doesn’t strongly reflect Van Gogh’s style because the colors she selected were close to each other. Still, I could see during the lesson that she understood the lesson well. Overall, the painting turned out nicely.
