We practiced drawing people inspired by Grandma Moses’s paintings. This piece is based on her holiday in Japan last month, reminiscing about a time she played at the park with her friends.
She learned how to simplify figures (boys, girls, etc.) using basic shapes, working only with acrylic markers.
I encourage her to continue practicing this at home and to be creative with outfits. With patience, she will keep improving.
Keep up the good work!

We first continued with drawing fruits. This time, she handled a analogous color scheme (yellow – green – blue) very well – the gradient on the apple looks great!

She then moved on to the upside-down drawing exercise. This helps her focus on observing lines and shapes more carefully, without being distracted by what the subject “should” look like.
It was challenging at first, but she gradually became more comfortable and ended up really liking the little owl she created.
She also practiced pencil blending, and we took turns coloring each other’s drawings. Nice job!

The Nintendo Switch drawing went very well — she worked quickly and confidently. I noticed she tried a new way of drawing grass and blended crayons nicely to create a purple-blue sky.
We then studied a still life inspired by Van Gogh’s painterly strokes. Combining two objects was challenging at first, but she quickly understood the composition. She gained better control of her brushstrokes and reinforced her understanding of analogous color schemes (orange–yellow, red–purple).
