She has worked very hard, and I hope that after this lesson, she will have a solid understanding of the basic proportions of the face and head. However, the shading needs a clearer hierarchy of values to make the forms appear more three-dimensional in space. -

We tried again with a proportion that fits more on the paper. She learnt to compare the small details and start with bigger shapes, and learnt basic proportions of the face. -

This was her first session drawing a planar head. She struggled quite a bit with measuring and comparing proportions, which is understandable since it’s far more complex than drawing still lifes.
I hope she’ll retain some of the fundamental proportions we’ve covered and be ready to revisit them through further practice to strengthen her understanding. -

This was her final charcoal still life assignment, marking the end of the charcoal course. Although there are a few minor issues with construction and texture rendering, I believe she has developed a solid command of many charcoal techniques and is ready to move on to more advanced studies. -

She learned very quickly. With a little guidance, she was able to distinguish the different materials—a challenging task, since they share some similar characteristics. The next drawing will be where she tackles more intricate details.
