Lucy finished this drawing today and she learnt how to create depth in dark areas. Good job! -

Her sense of form is very good. Even with a more challenging subject, she was able to complete the construction and even start shading during the very first session. Good job! In the next session, she will need to work on finding a way to control the balance of values while creating distinct textures for each specific material. -

Today, she experimented with a new medium with a very powerful expressive quality: charcoal. She has fairly good skills in comparison and construction, so she did not encounter too many difficulties in this exercise. However, she needs to learn how to control and fully explore the possibilities of this medium. -

A very challenging exercise in studying the structure of fabric folds. It requires not only mastery of the material and rendering techniques, but also the ability to accurately assess and understand the nature of the fabric itself. Perhaps this task is a little too advanced for her at this stage, so we will return to more basic objects for now. -

She has done a great job with this lesson. Her handling of value scales and the rendering of different material qualities is quite good. She even tried to create the special optical effects of the glass vase, although at this level, it is not something we usually encourage yet.The next area to improve will be learning to deliberately organize the values in the composition to guide the viewer’s eye according to her artistic intention.
