For this free-choice assignment, Emma chose to draw Pokémon. She spent quite a lot of time selecting reference images, which slowed down her overall progress.
If she can reduce over-cautious decisions and trust more in her own interpretation, her creative process will become much faster. -
June 16 – June 19, 2026
Emma drew still-life! This time she was highly independent, constructing the composition and objects with accuracy, speed, and confidence. The book cover was so detailed, from text to picture. Normally, she tends to struggle with drawing flowers, but now she simplified them while still preserving the unique characteristics of each type with ease.
This is truly her most impressive still-life work so far. She has come a long way! -
May 29 – June 2 – June 5 – June 9, 2026
This piece was a competition entry on the theme of ocean protection. For the first time, Emma followed a full artistic process, from researching the topic, developing multiple ideas, sketching, selecting a composition to refining the layout, all that before even beginning to move onto the final work. It is truly a thoughtful and dedicated artwork!
I hope that in the future, she can continue to carry this structured way of working into not only her artistic practice, but also many other areas of her learning and life. -

We worked on an exercise inspired by Henri Matisse’s cut-out works this time.
Emma followed the given instructions very well, even going beyond the expected requirements. The forms were simple, yet still preserved the sheep key characteristics. The horn in particular was very impressive!
